As the name suggests, 'THIS IS also GAZA,' aims to present an alternative vision of Gaza, one nurtured through the eyes of its most compelling contemporary cultural producers.
For about the last half-century, Gaza has been viewed almost exclusively – regionally and internationally–through the camera lens of war, occupation, in-fighting, and humanitarian strife.
Through an innovative cross-disciplinary program, 'THIS IS also GAZA', which was showing 2-4 October in Amman, Jordan, challenged the over-determined, over-politicized image, and put a spotlight on Gaza's cultural vitality and relevance in the contemporary Arab world – and beyond.
The event was organised by Alhoush in partnership with Ma3mal 612.
