Newcastle manager unhappy with Tiote's poor disciplinary record Newcastle coach Alan Pardew criticises Ivorian midfielder Cheick Tiote for his poor disciplinary record
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said on Wednesday he is worried about Cheick Tiote's lack of discipline. The 26-year-old was sent off after 25 minutes in Newcastle's 1-1 draw against Sunderland on Sunday after making a crude tackle on Sunderland forward Steven Fletcher. The Ivorian midfielder has collected 29 yellow cards and two reds since his arrival at Newcastle in the summer of 2010. Tiote will consequently miss the Magpies' next three league games but will be available to play against Belgian side Club Brugge in Thursday's Europa League game. "I do have some worries about his discipline. I will be talking to him before the Brugge game," Pardew was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Wednesday. "We talk to him before every game. We talk to him at every half-time. It's not a laughing matter because he's one of our big players and I can't have him not playing. "It could be costly and he needs to understand that."
