Cameroon striker Choupo-Moting could miss his country's crucial clash against Cap Verde in the African Nations Cup qualifiers due to a knee injury

Mainz striker Eric Choupo-Moting is doubtful for Cameroon's clash against Cap Verde in next month's crucial Nations Cup qualifier against tiny Cap Verve after sustaining a knee injury.
The 23-year old suffered a knee tendon tear during Mainz's 3-0 defeat by Shalke in the German Bundesliga last week.
Given that he will undergo surgery on Monday to repair the tendon, Choupo-Moting is unlikely to make Cameroon's squad for the game.
The Indomitable Lions are looking to overcome their surprising 2-0 defeat against Cap Verde in the first leg three weeks ago to reach next year's finals in South Africa.
French coach Denis Lavagne was dismissed as Cameroon coach following the defeat. He was succeeded by Cameroonian boss Jean-Paul Akono, who will be in charge of the team in the second leg in Yaounde.
The four-time African champions risk missing the Nations Cup for the second time in a row as they failed the reach the previous edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea earlier this year.
