Hot weather could impact Egypt electricity grid: Official source Official source says hot summer weather could cause national electricity grid to lose up to 15 pct of capacity, leading to electricity consumption crisis
An official source at the Egypt Electric Holding Company (EEHC) onWednesday statedthat hot summer weather could cause the national electricity grid to lose up to 12 to 15 per cent of its capacity and lead to an electricity crisis. The source added that Egypt's energy and electricity ministry is in the process of building a new power station employing "super critical" technology that can function under enormous pressures and withstand extremely high temperatures. The source went on to say that the station, which will boast a production capacity of 1300 megawatts, was being built in the Sokhna region in Suezand is expected to be complete next year. The official source also pointed out that the EEHC was trying to reduce mounting pressure on the grid, which has recently been subject to a 13 per cent consumption increase. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/45711.aspx
