Egypt brings African qualifier forward by 2 days On Friday, Egypt will take on Central African Republic – two days ahead of schedule – at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium
Egypt's 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier with the Central African Republic will be held two days earlier than originally scheduled, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Sunday. The game was initially slated for 17 June, but both the Cairo and Alexandria security directorates refused to provide security for the match, which overlapped with the second day of voting in Egypt's presidential runoff election. The CAF finally agreed to change the match date, following a request to this effect by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA). The anticipated clash with the Central African Republic had originally been scheduled for 29 February, but the CAF postponed it at the EFA's behest following February's Port Said stadium disaster. The return leg is slated for 29 June. The holders of seven CAN trophies are also scheduled to play Guinea on 10 June before taking on Zimbabwe in Group G of the African section of World Cup qualifiers.
