Pharaohs assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed revealed on Wednesday that the team's technical staff would announce members of the Egyptian squad for the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier slated for 13 February.
“We were expected to announce our squad on 7 February, but decided to delay the announcement to 13 February following a decision by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) regarding the date of the Egyptian League's first round, which was delayed from 7 to 13 February,'' El-Sayed told Ahram Online.
The EFA has decided to delay the 16th match, originally scheduled for 24 and 25 January, coinciding with the first anniversary of Egypt's January 25 Revolution. Consequently, the Egyptian League's first round will wrap up on 13February.
The Pharaohs plan to begin training on 15February, which will include two friendly games against Botswana and Kenya on 20 and 23 February respectively.
Egypt, who failed to qualify for the current African Cup of Nations, will launch their campaign for the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on 29February when they are scheduled to meet Central Africa in Bangui.
