Screening of 'The General' at Artellewa at 7pm
A 1928 silent movie, directed by Josef von Sternberg. The film won the very first Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The General is screened as part of theMonth of Silent Cinema

Cavewomen dance performance at Falaki Theatre, at 8pm
Part of theSpring Festival, San Francisco's Dance Brigade will bring their unique blend of political dance, theatre, martial arts and taiko drumming with a feminist perspective in their acclaimed show, "Cavewomen: The Next Incarnation." Free Admission.

Ajam at El-Geneina Theatre at 8pm —Jesuits Cultural Centre (JCC)
Based in the UK, Ajam will bring their fusion of Iranian regional and tribal music with a contemporary urban edge to Egyptian audiences. Ajam will also perform in Cairo on 12 May and in Assiut on 14 May. Check Spring Festival programme for details.

Tracing Time symposium at Rawabet Theatre at 4pm
The “Tracing Time” symposium is part of Xenia Nikolsaya's Dust, a photographic exhibition exploring Egypt's abandoned architectural heritage, and is accompanied by the publication of texts and images.

Salalem Band at El-Sawy Culturewheel at 8pm
Labelling themselves as a mix of Egyptian indie pop and funk-rock, the six members of the pop band came together in 2004. Their Arabic lyrics speak of the issues concerning today's youth. Salalem continue to create songs that are excitedly welcomed by their audience.

String Orchestra at the Alexandria Opera House at 7pm
The String Orchestra will perform works of Boccherini (Cello Concerto) and Mozart (Piano Concerto No 21 and Symphony No 29). Conductor Mohamed Saad Basha. Soloists Ashraf Sharara (cello) and Ingy Badawy (piano).

The Brothers Karamazov at El-Sawy Culturewheel at 7pm
Based on a Russian classic, the theatre performance "The Brothers Karamazov" is directed by Mohammed Abdallah and will be performed by the Ehsas troupe.

Contemporary dance performance at Metropol Theatre at 8pm
Titled "My Family," the performance is within the framework of the Tonight Theatre Festival. It is a combination of storytelling and contemporary dance.
