This performance is part of the Independent Combo initiative. 2 Hussein El-Meamar Street, off Mahmoud Bassiouni Street, Downtown, Cairo DJ Wezza, Okka and Ortega present Shaabi Rap in Radio Theatre at 9pm After gaining mass popularity during the past year playing their electronically mixed rap music in shaabi (popular) weddings and events, the artists take the stage at Radio Theatre as part of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF). 24 Talaat Harb Street, Downtown, Cairo Friday 13 April Conversation on art at Townhouse Gallery: Iman Issa and Mia Jankowicz at 6pm As part of visual arts programme of D-CAF, Iman Issa will discuss her recent work, including 'Material', an exhibition presented in Istanbul in 2011. Townhouse Gallery Factory Space, 22 Abdel Khalek Tharwat Street, 4th floor, Cairo Violin and piano recital the Cairo Opera House at 8pm Osman El-Mahdy playing solo violin and David Hales on piano team up for an evening including pieces by Händel, Beethoven and Brahms. Cairo Opera House, Small Hall, Zamalek, Cairo 'The Speaker's Progress' — Play in Falaki Theatre at 8pm Playing on a Shakespearian theme, and depicting the Arab world's dynamic which led to regional revolt, Kuwaiti writer and director Sulaiman Al-Bassam presents this play as part of D-CAF. AUC Falaki Campus, 24 Falaki Street, Downtown, Cairo Anachronyby Nermine Hammam in Safar Khan Gallery Hand painted photography exhibition depicting the artist's experience in Fayoum with her daughter and her cousin, dancer Karima Mansour. Hammam takes inspiration from nature and the elements around her. Karmet Ibn Hanie Cultural Centre in Ahmed Shawky Museum, 6 Ahmed Shawki Street, Corniche El-Nil, Giza 'The Golden Calf' by Kareem El-Qurity in Al-Masar Gallery Born in 1982, Kareem El-Qurity represents the Egyptian art movement's fifth generation.The Golden Calfwillbe the first solo exhibition for the gallery's youngest artist. El-Qurity recreates the story of Apis using the vocabulary of contemporary art.
