He released two albums and received the 2011Freemuse Award. 26thof July Street, Cairo Wust El-Balad at the Cairo Opera House at 8pm The band is considered one of the most popular bands in the Egyptian contemporary music scene. Theywere established in 1999 under the name The Gray Rat Band and changed it to Wust El-Balad aftera suggestionfrom Sameh El-Azab. Open Air Theatre at the Cairo Opera House, Zamalek Poetry reading at Alexandria's El-Cabina at 8pm The prominent Alexandrian poet and writer Alaa Khaled who will sign and read poems from his book Under the Sun of Another Memory, published recently by Sharqeiat Publishing House. The performance will be accompanied by Akram Tabrizi on cello. 11 San Saba Street - Raml station, Alexandria Saturday 14 July Basata Band at the Cairo Opera House at 8pm The popular youth fusion band Basata has won accolades since its formation four years ago. Basata, literally meaning simplicity, was formed when the band members decided theflood oflove songs produced in Egypt needed some mixing up. Open Air Theatre at the Cairo Opera House, Zamalek Eftekasat Band at El-Genaina at 8.30pm Established in 2002, the band performs what they call ‘rental jazz'. It is organized through a collaboration between Darb 1718 and Harassmap. Kasr El-Sham' Street- Fustat, Old Cairo (Mar Guirguis metro station) Encounter exhibition at Tache Art, Designopolis The exhibition looks into different facets of encounter, featuring mixed-media paintings by contemporary artists Deena Fadel and Wael Sabour and sculptures by Rossana Corrado. The exhibition runs until the end of August. S-139 Designopolis, Km 38 of the Alexandria Desert Road, Sheikh Zayed City, Cairo Sunday 15 July Sharkiat Fathy Salama at the Cairo Opera House at 8pm Fathy Salama,the Grammy and BBC awards winner performs with his groupSharkiat, mixing jazz with folk and ethnic music and topping it with oriental accents. Open Air Theatre at the Cairo Opera House, Zamalek A poetic concert at El Sawy Culturewheel at 8pm Dalia Guindy will sing songs to the poetry of Ahmed Haddad. The evening will also include Iman Younes as guest singer. 26thof July Street, Cairo Gallery Collectionat Al-Masar Al-Masar Gallery celebrates its fourth anniversary with a summer show, Gallery Collection, featuring artwork exhibited on the gallery's walls since it's opening in 2008. The gallery has hosted paintings by well-known art icons of the 20th century, such as Omar El-Nagdy and Taha Hussein.
