Zamalek asks CAF to postpone Teungueth's game for 24 hours after flight delay

Zamalek's management have asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the Whites' game against Senegal's Teungueth in the CAF Champions League for 24 hours to have enough time to prepare after arriving late in Dakkar due to flight delays.
The White Knights are scheduled to face Teungueth FC in their second Group D game of the Champions League at Stade Lat-Dior in the Senegalese city Thieson on Tuesday.
However, the Cairo giants' management want the game to be played on Wednesday because the team arrived late in Senegal due to a flight delay saga.
Zamalek took off in a private jet from Cairo heading to Senegal late on Saturday, made a transit stop for re-fueling in Algeria, before resuming the journey, but Mauritania refused passage to the jet over its airspace due to administrative reasons forcing the jet to return to Algeria, according Zamalek Spokesperson Essam Salem.
“We succeeded in changing the flight after recommendations from the Egyptian Sports Ministry to pass through Mali,” Salem said.
Zamalek's crew finally arrived in Senegal late on Sunday.
“We asked the Confederation of the African Football to postpone the game for 24 hours due to the emergency conditions that caused the plane's delay,” Salem added.
“CAF's regulations allow for games to be postponed in cases of emergency, including rains or flights postponement,”
The Cairo club are seeking to make amends for a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to MC Alger in their opening Group D match. Teungueth FC kicked off their group-stage campaign with a 2-1 defeat by Tunisian giants Esperance.
