Ahly winger Taher Mohamed Taher will not participate in the game against Al-Merrikh of Sudan in the CAF Champions League after suffering from a muscle injury, the club announced on Monday. African Champions League title holders Ahly will start their mission in the continental tournament's group stage against Al-Merrikh of Sudan on Tuesday. "Medical scans have showed that Taher suffers from muscle problems and he will be out of action for a week," Ahly doctor Ahmed Abu-Abla told a television programme. The 23-year-old winger played an influential role with Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup, helping the Reds claim the bronze medal of the prestigious tournament. The former Arab Contractors star was included in the starting lineups of Ahly's three games in the FIFA Club World Cup against Al-Duhail, Bayern Munich, and Palmeiras — where he sustained the injury. Taher, who had a previous experience with French team Le Havre in 2016, completed his move to Egypt's most successful club — Ahly — last October, coming from Arab Contractors on a five-year deal. span style="font-size:11.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333"(For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSportsspan style="font-size:11.5pt; font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333".)
