Al-Thawra Al-Masriya (The Egyptian Revolution: Motives,Directionsand Challenges)by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies, Doha: ACRPS, 2012. 608pp. The Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies has just released a new book on the January 25 Revolution entitled The Egyptian Revolution: Motives,Directionsand Challenges. It can be considered one of the rare sober books tackling the Egyptian revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak on 11 February 2011. The book tries to explore the “real motives” of the revolution, presenting a multi-dimensioned analysis of the revolution, through the readings of media, history and policy experts who the power of the slogans raised by protesters in Tahrir Square, especially the lead slogan of "Horeyya, Adala wi Karama" (Freedom, Justice and Dignity). Among the book's articles are: "Why the revolution broke out," "Documenting the revolution," "The symbolism of Tahrir Square," "The Egyptian media after the revolution," "New media and the democratic transition," and "The future of the Egyptian-Israeli relations."
