Director of the energy sector at the African Union Commission Sheikh Bida said that Egypt has achieved great success in the energy sector over the past five years by attracting investments to the sector. Bida made the comments during the opening session of the annual Al-Ahram energy conference, which kicked off on Sunday at the Al-Masa Hotel under the patronage of the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and under the theme ‘Energy, Investment Opportunities and Growth Horizons.' Bida also said that Africa needs to reinforce the corporate outline for boosting electrical linkage operations between the continent's countries. “Electrical linkage operations will enhance economic growth rates in African countries and transform Africa into a thriving continent that uses clean energy,” he said. Bida also said that Egypt's experience has shown that through cooperation Africa can overcome its challenges in a way that meets its citizen's ambitions, alleviates their suffering, and makes the continent attractive to global investors. He added that the African Union Commission calls on all its members to adopt economic integration policies by making use of African wealth and exchanging experiences by which cooperation can be boosted.
