Maqassa's technical staff, led by manager Tarek Yehia, attended Ahly's Saturday training session in a show of solidarity with the players after the bloody eventsof Port Said on 1 February.
All football activities in Egypt have been suspended after the disaster that left over 74 football fans killed and hundreds injured when thousands of Masry fans reportedly stormed the pitch at the Port Said stadium to attack Ahly supporters following the end of a league game.
They were also accompanied by Maqassa striker Osama Hosni, who left his boyhood club Ahly last summer.
“We came to Ahly to offer our condolences for the victims of the Egyptian sport,” Tarek Yehia was quoted as saying by Ahly's official website.
“I hope Ahly's technical staff and the players will recover soon, especially that theyare preparing for their opening African Champions League game next month,” he added.
Both Zamalek and Egypt national team technical staffs recently visited the Red Devils' training to stand by the traumatised players.
Ahly coach Manuel Jose and football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz praised today's visit, considering it a new step against intolerance in Egyptian football.
Ahly players will travel to UAE on Sunday to start a 10-day training camp, that will include at least two friendly matches, in preparation for their African Champions League round of 32 match on 23 March.
Midfielder Hossam Ashour limped off Saturday's training sessiondue to muscular strain, but according to club doctor Ihab Aly, he will be able to travel with his teammates.
