Egypt U-23 national team were held to a scoreless draw by South Africa in a friendly held at Ismailia Stadium on Friday, ahead of the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations next month. There will be another match against South Africa at Ismailia Stadium also on Sunday in the team's last preparatory camp ahead of the African tournament that will be held in Egypt from 8 to 22 November. Egypt will play in Group A alongside with Cameroon, Ghana and Mali, meanwhile Group B includes Nigeria, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Zambia. The first three teams will qualify directly to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, while the fourth-place finisher will play against a team from the Asian Football Confederation, to also book a seat in the Olympics.
