Egypt has officially requested hosting the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations which qualifies for the Olympic Games in Tokyo the following year after Zambia had decided against staging the tournament. On the sidelines of a symposium in Morocco, Egypt Sports minister Khaled Abdel-Aziz and Egyptian FA chief Hani Abou-Rida submitted a request to host the eight-team tournament. Egypt's request will be discussed in Thursday's CAF executive committee meeting, which is expected to ratify the Africa Cup of Nations' expansion to 24 teams.
