Egypt's health ministry has said that around 36,134 foreign residents have been screened for hepatitis C as part of the country's nationwide anti-hepatitis C campaign. According to an official statement, the initiative for foreigners aims to screen people aged 12 and older at 309 screening stations nationwide. The ministry said that Syrians were the top foreign nationals screened for the disease, followed by Palestinians and Sudanese. The screening and dispensing of free treatments comes under Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's initiative to screen expats, which was launched in March and will run till September.
