Defending champions Cameroon had to wait until the last round of the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers to secure passage to the summer tournament after beating Comoros 3-0 on Saturday. The Indomitable Lions, who were the initial hosts of the 2019 African Cup before being stripped of the hosting rights last December, needed only a draw while Comoros had to win in Yaounde to cause an upset. The Cameroonians roared in front of their home crowd, scoring on three occasions through Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting 37, Clarence Bitang 53 and Karl Toko Ekambi 89 to secure their qualification. Cameroon finished second in Group B with 11 points, just behind leaders Morocco who have the same number of points but finished on top due to a better head-to-head record.
