Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty held phone consultations with his counterparts from Arab, Islamic, European, and Asian countries to prepare for the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, set for Monday, Oct. 13, the foreign ministry said Sunday. Abdel-Atty conveyed invitations from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump to world leaders to attend the summit, which is expected to see the signing of an agreement to end the war in Gaza, the ministry added in a statement. The talks focused on the agenda and arrangements for what Cairo described as a "historic summit" aimed at halting the war in Gaza, restoring regional stability, and easing the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians. The ministry said the meeting reflects a joint Egyptian–US effort to open a new chapter of peace and security in the Middle East under Trump's regional peace initiative. Abdel-Atty also spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review final preparations for the summit, which Egypt and the United States will co-chair. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
