The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab League's preparatory ministerial meeting in Baghdad, Iraq. Minister Abdel-Atty stressed the importance of Yemen's stability to regional and Red Sea security, voicing Egypt's backing for efforts toward a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni conflict that reflects the aspirations of its people, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministers also discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, with Minister Abdel-Atty highlighting Egypt's push to reinstate a ceasefire amid ongoing hostilities. Both sides underscored the need to mobilise international support for the Arab initiative on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
