Meteb and Barakat boost Ahly squad in coming Contractors match The Cairo giants welcome back 'goal machine' players just in time for the Arab Contractors game on Saturday, after temporarily losing three team members to recent injuries
Ahly striker Emad Meteb and the team's attacking midfielder Mohamed Barakat have been cleared to play in Saturday's game against Arab Contractors after both recovering from injuries. “Meteb is fit to play in the Contractors game. He will undergo medical tests in Germany to make sure of a full recovery from a back injury,” Ahly's doctor told Ahram Online on Thursday. “Barakat joined Thursday's morning training and he is now fit for the Contractors match as well,” he added. Barakat had been on the sidelines for more than two weeks after sustaining muscular injuries during the 3-1 win over Smouha in the 14th match day of the Egyptian Premier League. The Cairo giants attacker Emad Meteb suffered back problems that took him off the pitch for almost two months. He recently completed his treatment with the Ahly doctors, allowing him to return to the regular squad. In addition Ahly midfielder Mohamed Shawky has also been injured. Shawky will undergo medical scans of a torn muscle to determine the estimated period of recovery. Ahly are competing to take a seventh successive league title. Currently they are in second place of the 19-team league table with 33 points, just one behind the surprise leaders Haras El-Hodood.
