Shawky's season with Ahly could be over Ahly midfielder Mohamed Shawky is out for at least one month with the knee injury he sustained against Ittihad of Alexandria
The Egyptian League holders Ahly will lose the services of their midfielder Mohamed Shawky for one month after medical scans revealed a knee ligament injury. The 29-year old midfielder will undergo further MRI scans to define the period of the rehab programme that he needs. “Shawky will undergo further scans to confirm his knee ligament injury,” Ahly's medical staff announced on Saturday. The former Middlesbrough midfielder sustained the injury during the league game against Ittihad of Alexandria. The loss is tempered by the news that striker Emad Meteb will start his rehab program after recovering from the two fractured ribs he sustained last February. “Meteb needs to play ten training games to fully recover,” Ahly's doctor told the daily Al-Ahram. The 28-year old Pharaohs striker has been out of action for more than three months. Ahly have closed the gap on league leaders Zamalek to just one point as they step up their bid for a seventh consecutive title. .
