‘Barakat is an amazing player,' says Bradley Egypt coach said he could try to persuade Barakat to go back on his decision to retire from the national side
Egyptian national team coach Bob Bradley praised Ahly midfielder Mohamed Barakat for his recent outstanding performances, especially during the friendly match with Bayern Munich. “Barakat is an amazing player. I was really surprised when I learned that he is 35 years old,” the American manager told Koora Masr sports TV program Monday. The Red Castle star announced his retirement from international football in 2010 after being overlooked by then coach Hassan Shehata. “I am taking notes at the moment and maybe later I will discuss his retirement decision with him,” the 53-year-old Bradley added. The former United States manager also praised some of the most popular players, like midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Razik “Shikabala,” goalkeeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed and captain Ahmed Hassan. The former Chicago Fire and MetroStars coach, who took charge of the Pharaohs last September, will lead Egypt's national team until the 2014 World Cup Finals. Bradley has up until now only lead the side in the 2-0 friendly defeat against Brazil in the Qatari capital Doha. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter:@AO_Sports).
