Ghana's Gyan is a doubt for ACN with hamstring problems Ghana key striker could be fit for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations as he needs for a three-week rest
Ghana and Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan has been informed that he should rest for three weeks to recover from hamstring injury if he wants to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations that takes place in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on 21 January. “The doctors have told me that I need to rest for about three weeks for me to be able to fully recover from the hamstring problem,” Gyan was quoted as saying on MTNFootball.com. “With this I am hopeful that I will be fully fit for the time the Africa Cup of Nations starts.” He added. The 26-year old Al Ain forward sustained a hamstring injury in the 4-0 win over Emirates in the UAE League early this week. The former Sunderland in-form attacker Gyan is confirmed to be out of Ghana's camping in South Africa on 7 January in preparation for the tournament. The Ghana striker abruptly left Sunderland to join United Arab Emirates side Al Ain on a season-long loan worth £6million in September, a move that infuriated former Sunderland coach Steve Bruce.
