The Head of Egypt's Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel-Aal said that the country will face a five-day heat wave from Thursday through Monday, with temperatures reaching as high as high of 41 degrees Celcius in Cairo and the Nile Delta. Temperatures are set to rise by 3-5 degrees above their normal rates during this time of the year, the EMA said, with an average of 1-2 degrees increase starting Wednesday. Humidity levels will also increase to 85 percent in the northern parts of the country, adding to discomfort from heat. Egypt experienced an intense days-long heatwave around the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan three weeks ago.
