Eight Egyptian citizens died and 295 others suffering from heat stress as unpreceded heatwave hits the country for several days, Al Bawaba news reported on Tuesday. In an official statement, the Ministry of Health announced that 173 were released from hospital after receiving the necessary treatment. Egypt is currently experiencing a remarkable increase in temperatures that exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in some areas and an increased air humidity ratio. The average maximum temperature in Cairo and Nile Delta reached 38 degrees Celsius in the shade on Friday, while it reached 43 degrees Celsius in Upper Egypt, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority. On Saturday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority expected the maximum temperature in Cairo to reach 39 degrees Celsius in the shade and between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius in several areas, southern Egypt. Forecasts indicate that the heatwave will gradually decrease starting from Tuesday.
