FJP and Nour lead in second stage of Egypt parliament elections
Preliminary results show that the Freedom and Justice Party and Salafist Nour Party are leading in the second stage of the parliamentary elections in six of the nine governorates

The Muslim Brotherhood's political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), and Salafist party Nour Party so far seem to have the upper hand in the second phase of the ongoing People Assembly (lower house of Parliament) elections.
According to preliminary results, the FJP has emerged the winner in the votes for electoral lists in Giza governorate. The Nour Party have come second, the Egyptian Bloc came third.
The FJP candidates in Giza's first, second and fifth constituencies are also leading in the independents contest.
The fierce competition lies in the third constituency between political analyst Amr El-Shobaky and the FJP's Ahmed Darrag.
The story of the front runners is repeated in the governorate of Sharqiya where the FJP garnered 45 per cent of the votes for electoral lists, followed by Nour on 19 per cent. The liberal Wafd party and moderate Islamist Wasat came third and fourth respectively.
The FJP also came ahead of the Nour Party in the governorates of Ismailiya, Menofiya and Beheira while the Nour Party sprang a surprise in Suez, winning around 50 per cent of the electoral lists' votes.
