Hot and dusty weather will continue in Egypt until Friday: Meteorological Authority
Published in Ahram Online on 06 - 03 - 2018

Egypt's Meteorological Authority predicted another increase in temperatures across the country on Wednesday, accompanied by continued dusty wind and cooler temperatures at night.
The current heat wave is expected to end next Thursday evening, with moderate weather starting Friday, the Meteorological Authority spokesperson Waheed El-Seoudi told Ahram Online.
Egypt has experienced warmer temperatures and dustiness in the past few days with the coming of the spring season.
"The reason behind the heat wave and sand is that Egypt is influenced by westerly and southwesterly winds coming from the Western Desert, as well as wind from the Arabian Peninsula from the east," El-Seoudi added.
Meteorologists also expect morning fog that might affect visibility on Egypt's roads, especially in the areas of Northern coast, Suez Canal area, Delta, and Cairo.
Light to Moderate waves between 1 and 1.5 metres high are expected in both the Mediterranean and the Red Sea on Wednesday.
Cairo is expected to see a high of 34 and a low of 18 Celcius, while Alexandria will see a high of 31 and a low of 16.
During the day, the temperatures in Aswan and Luxor will reach 38 Celsius, while at night they will experience lows of 20 and 19 degrees, respectively.
The tourist city of Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai will enjoy a high of 29 and a low of 21, the cities of Hurghada and Saint Catherine will also experience highs of 29, and lows of 16 and 14, respectively.
Starting Friday, Egyptian weather will be influenced by a northeasterly wind coming from southeastern Europe that will improve local weather, El-Seoudi explained.
The average high temperatures in Egypt during the spring month of March hover around 23.6 degrees Celsius with lows of 11.6.
