Egypt will witness a drop in temperatures on Saturday, with Cairo set for a high of 34 degrees Celcius and a low of 25, weather forecasters said on Friday. Egypt's Meteorological Authority told state-run news agency MENA that a decline in temperatures is expected nationwide, with high temperatures still expected in Upper Egypt. Temperatures in the coastal city of Alexandria will range from 30 to 26 degrees Celsius. The Red Sea resort city of Hurghada will see a high of 40 and a low of 30, while temperatures in Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai will range from 40 to 31. On the Mediterranean Sea, there will be moderate waves, reaching 1.5 to 2 metres in height, while waves on the Red Sea will be between 2 and 2.5 metres. Egypt has been witnessing hot summer weather in recent weeks. The meteorological authority generally advises avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun during the summer, especially between 12pm and 3pm. It also advises people to drink lots of liquids and to do any swimming in the early morning hours or a little before sunset, to avoid intense sun.
