Egypt winger Warda joins Greek side Atromitos after Portuguese deal falls though
Published in Ahram Online on 29 - 08 - 2017

Egypt winger Amr Warda, who had his loan deal with Portugal's CD Feirense annulled over allegations of sexual harassment, completed a move to Greek club Atromitos on Tuesday.
"The Atromitos Club is delighted to welcome Amr Warda to Peristeri and welcome him to the family of our team," Atromitos said in a statement on their official website.
"This afternoon he was at the club's offices and signed a one-year contract with the Technical Director Yannis Angelopoulos."
Warda joined Feirense from Greek side PAOK on a season-long loan deal early this month but his contract was abruptly terminated, with Portuguese reports saying he was punished for sexually harassing two of his teammates' wives.
However, the 23-year-old vehemently denied the allegations, saying in a statement released in English that he would sue "the responsible people by criminal claim."
Warda, who was part of Egypt's squad for the African Cup of Nations in Gabon earlier this year, was left out of the Pharaohs' squad for the crucial World Cup qualifier away to Uganda on Thursday.
Egypt coach Hector Cuper said he was not included in the roster due to his lack of playing time.
"I am very happy to have come to Atromitos, one of the most organized and big clubs in Greece," Warda told the club's website.
"I came to help the team with all my strength to return to the top 5 of the Greek Championship but also to go as far as possible in the Greek Cup. At the same time, through my appearances in Atromitos, I want to fight with the Egyptian National Team in the 2018 World Cup."
