Egypt FA chairman vows to end El-Hadary issue peacefully
Sudanese club Merriekh still angry about Egypt keeper's 'escape' as EFA takes steps to end dispute diplomatically
Published in Ahram Online on 13 - 11 - 2011

Egypt Football association (EFA) Chairman Samir Zaher announced that the association had reached a friendly solution with its Sudanese counterpart regarding Egypt goalie Essam El-Hadary.
“The problem is going to end since I agreed with Sudan FA President Ga'afar Al-Mo'tasem to control the conflict for the sake of the good relations between the two countries,” Zaher told the Egyptian media on Saturday.
Communication between the two associations began after new Egypt coach Bob Bradley called evergreen keeper El-Hadary for a Brazil friendly scheduled to be held on Monday in Doha, Qatar.
Merriekh's out-of-service keeper El-Hadary hasn't attended training sessions with the team for almost two months claiming that he did not receive his benefits.
“The Egyptian FA shouldn't support El-Hadary since he lies about his benefits and he escaped. He is an irresponsible player and doesn't deserve to guard Egypt's net against Brazil,” said Merriekh President Gamal El-Wali.
The 38-year-old goalie lodged a complaint with FIFA against Merriekh claiming he had not received his salary for ten months and was therefore refusing to fulfil the terms of his contract and wanted to terminate it.
The Pharaohs goalkeeper has endured constant problems since leaving Egyptian champions Ahly for FC Sion under acrimonious circumstances in 2008 before also having disputes with Egyptian clubs Ismaily and Zamalek.
The three-time African keeper of the year has been instrumental in Egypt's African Cup of Nations treble in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
