6 April Movement says military council not protecting activists

One of the main players of the January revolution slams the ruling military council for ignoring assaults on activists

The 6 April Youth Movement has censured the military council for ignoring recent assaults on its activists.
The movement, which was one of the main players in the January 25 Revolution, has accused the council and the Ministry of Interior of not protecting its activists from attacks by members of the old regime.
In a statement released Saturday, the movement said it filed complaints with the council regarding several incidents in which its activists were abused, but the complaints were ignored.
“The authorities did not try to stop these activities or even investigate it, and we consider their disregard of these complaints as deliberate from both the military council and Ministry of Interior who are not only responsible for protecting the country's infrastructure but also the citizens,” the group wrote in the statement.
"Or is protecting infrastructure more important than protecting the people?” they asked.
The statement highlighted several recent assaults on members of the group. The incidents included death threats, kidnapping, physical assaults and verbal insults.
