Ghana coach Avram Grant has announced the final squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, taking place 14 January to 5 February in Gabon, Ghana Football Association announced Wednesday. Some players have been eliminated from the provisional squad to meet the requirements of the Confederation of African Football, which allows a maximum of 23 players. Surprising eliminations from the lineup include strikers Abdul-Majeed Waris and Raphael Dwamena, as well as Turkey-based midfielder Attamah Larweh. Ghana stars Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso, Christian Atsu and Jonathan Mensah are included in the final squad. The Black Stars, who will compete with Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the cup, are currently holding a final training camp in the UAE. They will face Uganda in their first match of the tournament on 17 January.
