Moroccan film Mimosas has won the Golden Pyramid award for Best Film while its leading star Shakin Ben Omar won Best Actor at the 38th Cairo International Film Festival. Directed by Oliver Laxe, the film depicts a dying Sheikh who travels across the Moroccan Atlas in a caravan escorted by two rogues, according to the IMDb synopsis. Mimosas is a coproduction by Morocco, Spain and France, and was written by Santiago Fillol and Oliver Laxe, starring Ahmed Hammoud, Shakib Ben Omar, Said Aagli. CIFF's award is not the first recognition of the film. Mimosas' director Laxe already won Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, 2016 and Special Jury Award at the Seville European Film Festival, 2016.
