African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is establishing the African Trade Centre (AATC) in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, where it will also locate its new global headquarters. According to Afreximbank's statement on Saturday, the project is scheduled for completion in early 2029. The development will occupy a 48,888-square-metre site with a total built-up area of more than 156,000 square metres. Hassan Allam Construction is executing the project under a $249.5 million contract, with EHAF Consulting Engineers overseeing design and supervision. The centre is being developed in the Diplomatic District, around 45 kilometres east of Cairo, and will be Afreximbank's first African Trade Centre in North Africa. The project aims to support intra-African trade and position Egypt as a regional trade and investment hub. The Cairo AATC will house Afreximbank offices, trade and investment institutions, SME and technology incubation centres and a digital African trade gateway offering trade information and payments services.
