'We can win in Egypt, reach the World Cup:' Ghana coach
Published in Ahram Online on 11 - 10 - 2016

Ghana's coach Avram Grant believes that his team's friendly game against South Africa on Tuesday will be a good preparation for the anticipated World Cup qualifier against Egypt.
The Pharaohs will host the Ghanaian team on 7 November in the second round of the African qualifiers.
"We are looking forward to this game [South Africa's friendly] - at the end of the day, the most important game is the next game,'' Grant was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet.com.
''We spoke a lot about the mentality with the players before the African Cup of Nations last year and we won the second game against Algeria. We then beat South Africa in the last game: we were 1-0 down and we won 2-1, so we showed a lot of mental strength. We have spoken a lot about this and we give tools to the players on how to use it and we want to see that against Egypt.''
The Black stars kicked off their qualifying campaign to reach a fourth successive World Cup appearance with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Uganda Friday in Tamale.
On the other side, Egypt, Ghana's Group E main rivals, had a perfect start after beating their hosts Congo 2-1 on Sunday.
Winning the next match against Egypt in Alexandria will be a must for the Ghanaians to keep their World Cup hopes alive and Grant believes that peace of mind will be a key factor to success.
''We need everybody together, from the politician to girls, boys and everyone to help give the team peace of mind. We need to learn that if there's no support, the team is not winning which I'm not happy about but this is the situation we find ourselves in," the former Chelsea coach explained.
''Ghana has a strong team, we can win in Egypt, we can reach the World Cup but everybody needs to be professional. If everybody will do his job, I can assure you that it will be good starting from the game against Egypt.
''We need to learn from our unprofessional preparations before Rwanda and Uganda and prevent a re-occurrence.
''Don't put a finger and say this is your fault and my fault! Everybody together, learn from the past, correct our mistakes and do well," the coach concluded.
In June, Ghana were drawn in a tight group at the qualifiers' final round alongside Egypt, Congo and Uganda.
Seven-time African champions, Egypt, have made only two World Cup appearances in their history, both in Italy, in 1934 and 1990.
