Egyptian sculptor Mostafa Naguib's memory revived with lecture Event at Alexandria's Mahmoud Said Centre on Saturday is part of a series of lectures focusing on Egypt's once-successful but now neglected artists
The Mahmoud Said Centre for museums and exhibitions will on Saturday host a lecture entitled 'Mostafa Naguib: an artist forgotten from the Egyptian memory' by the critic Yasser Mongy. The lecture is part of a series aimed at reviving the memory of important yet neglected artists. It will also display Naguib's work and screen two short documentaries about him. Mostafa Naguib was an Egyptian sculptor who gained fame for his work propagating the 1952 revolution and was hailed by Gamal Abdel Nasser. He moved to the USA in 1970 with his absence from the Egyptian scene leading to neglect of his work. Naguib died in 1990 after establishing two sculpture schools in the USA. The lecture will be held 7pm at the Mahmoud Said Centre on 6 Said Pasha street in Alexandria.
