Barak hints the involvement of Bedouins in Eilat bombings Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak claims Sinai Bedouins in Egypt may be involved in Eilat attacks but refuses to confirm information
Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said the Israeli army will resume bombing Palestinians suspected of being involved in the Eilat attacks last week, which led to the death of eight Israelis. According to Palestinian security and medical sources, recently-launched attacks on Gaza have killed at least 24 Palestinians. During an interview with CNN, Barak stated that Israeli forces have identified those who executed the attacks in Eilat, pointing out that some of them are located in Gaza while the rest live near Eilat itself. He added that he is “totally satisfied” with the Israeli forces' performance: a firm refusal to tolerate any aggression against Israeli civilians. Regarding whether the Palestinians and the Israelis will start a “new round of violence”, Barak saidthe Israeli government will never accept such situation. Barak, furthermore, said Sinai Bedouins in Egypt may have contributed to the paramilitary operation in Eilat; nevertheless, he refused to affirm that claim. He repeated the statement that he regretted the killing of Egyptian soldiers on the border.
