As part of the Hayy Festival 2011 at El Geneina Theatre, the Middle East's youngest talent Nai Al-Barghouti is to perform her first solo concert, outside of her hometown of Ramallah, in Cairo next Thursday 25 August.
Al-Mawred Al-Thakafy presents 14-year-old Al-Barhouti as having anexceptional voice, reminiscent of great singers from the Levant such as Asmahan, Marie Jubran and Zakiya Hamdan.
In this concert Nai will present some of the most beautiful songs from the Arabic music repertoire, such as Monyaty Azza Istibari by Sayed Darwish and Inn Kont Assameh by Mohamed El Qassabgy. The well-known Palestinian composer Khaled Jubran has supervised Nai's training, and selected and arranged the songs.
Al-Barghouti is also a composer and flute player, who finished her musical study in April 2011. She won first prize in the Palestine National Competition of Music in 2006 and 2008, and ranked second in 2010. Al-Barghouti has composed six musical pieces for the flute. In addition to playing flute and composing, she has a distinctive singing voice. She participated in the ceremony of UNESCO in 2008, and the Parisian Jazz Festival in 2010 as part of the Maqamat Al-Quds group.
The concert will start at 9.30 on Thursday 25 August.
El Geneina Theatre, Al Azhar Park, Salah Salem Street
