Kessas Arabeya (Arabic Stories)edited by Jbeir Al-Malihan, Cairo: Dar Sindbad for publishing, 2011. pp. 468. Dar Sindbad recently published the short stories collection book, 'Arabic Stories' including stories from contributors to the Arabic Story website. Sponsor of the project, Jbeir Al-Malihan, is also the editor of the book and manager of the website. The introduction by the Palestinian writer and critic, Khaled Al-Jabur, explains that the book is a reflection of the state of the short story in many Arab countries, with all the changes that have affected the art in the last few years. Most of the stories in the collection, regardless of their literary value, reflect rebellion against the common elements of the short story, to the extent that they mix with other forms of literary expression. According to Al-Jabur, the book also shows many of the recent issues facing the Arab world as a whole, in particular political realities and their developments.
