Ahly's Jose blames fan absence and bad luck for Wydad draw
Ahly coach Manuel Jose places his confidence in defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil, despite his poor performance in the CAF Champions League draw with Moroccon side Wydad on Sunday
Published in Ahram Online on 18 - 07 - 2011

“Abdel-Fadil performed well in the game but the luck was against him in the first and last minutes of the match,” Jose said in the post-game press conference, adding “I am very confident in his ability.”
Ahly have tied with Wydad 3-3 in Group B of CAF Champions League groups stage.
The Egyptian league champions' defender Abdel-Fadil cost Ahly two goals as he converted Wydad's first goal into his own net only two minutes into the game and defendedpoorly againstthe visitors' third goal.
“Wydad start their season but we still suffer from the Egyptian League competition that finished two weeks ago,” the Portuguese coach added.
“We still have a chance to qualify in the coming round as we have matches in hand”
The 65-year-old tactician thanked his players for their performance in the 3-3 draw with Wydad and blamed bad luck and supporters absence as the match was played behind closed doors after the Red Devils were fined for the excessive use of fireworks by their fans during the preliminary round game against Zambia's ZESCO United.
“The fans' absence affected the players performance in the game,” Jose concluded at the press conference.
