Police-free protests in Suez following Tahrir
No police forces were deployed as protesters took to the streets of Suez

El Arbaeen Square in the coastal city of Suez witnessed a rally of protesters led by the martyrs' families denouncing police brutality and calling for retribution against the culprits held accountable for the killing of peaceful demonstrators in the 25 January Revolution.‎
The Revolution Youth staged a sit-in on Thursday in preparation for the protest that started on Friday. No police or military forces have deployed since. “We will not forget the blood of our brothers” and “The Revolution has risen and won't be repressed” are among the slogans that have been resounding in the area.
The protesters also expressed their insistence on holding trials of policemen accused of killing protesters in Suez.‎“We will carry on staging protests and sit-ins till the revolution's demands are met,” said Amr Nagib, one of the demonstrators.‎
Tensions between civilians and the police have escalated since Tuesday, whose late hours witnessed altercations between the martyrs' families and police forces in front of the Ministry of Interior as well as at the Balloon Theatre in Agouza, back in Cairo. According to a number of accounts, as yet unidentified thugs were involved in the fray, according to a number of accounts.‎
Over 1,000 were reportedly killed during the 25 Janaury Revolution.
Toppeled president Hosni Mubarak, his younger son Gamal and former minister of Interior Habib El-Adly are believed to be the main instigators of the police's deadly approach towrards the protesters during the 18-day revolt.‎
