Gyan Asamoah said his primary objective for the New Year is to help Ghana win their first African Cup of Nations title since 1982. The burly striker, who plays for Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates, and his Ghana teammates were largely disappointing at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, bowing out at the group stage after finishing bottom of a group that also included eventual champions Germany, Portugal and the United States. "I hope to win the African Cup in 2015," The 29-year-old, who played for Sunderland in England, said on his website. "This is the New Year and everyone wishes for good things to happen. My wish is to win the African Cup." Despite being deemed one of the favourites to win the Nations Cup in the last decade, Ghana have often flattered to deceive. They have reached the last four in each of the last four editions though and were close to ending their long Nations Cup drought in 2010 but lost to Egypt in the final. They will be led by new Israeli coach Avram Grant when they play in the tough Group A in this month's finals in Equatorial Guinea along with Algeria, South Africa and Senegal.
