Illicit profiteering committee extends Zakaria Azmy detention The illicit profiteering committee extends the detention of Zakaria Azmy for another 15 days
The illicit profiteering committee ordered a 15-day extension of the detention of ousted president Mubarak's chief of staff, Zakaria Azmy, on Wednesday pending more investigations. Azmy, one of the most pivotal figures in Mubarak's inner circle, was arrested last month along with many other former governmental officials and ministers. All the defendants have been incarcerated in Tora Prison. Azmy has been indicted on charges of abusing his political power to accumulate profits over the past years. His detention was renewed in the wake of his questioning today.
