The Egyptian Football Association announced that the domestic Super Cup between Ahly and Zamalek will take place on 14 September, according to Ahram's Arabic news website. The date, which will mark the start of the 2014/15 domestic season, had been initially proposed by Egypt coach Shawky Gharib - who prepares his side for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, due to kick off in September. The Super Cup will pit league champions Ahly against cup holders Zamalek. The venue of the Cairo derby has yet to be determined. It is also unclear whether the Super Cup will be staged in the presence of fans - whose attendance has been mostly prohibited since the deadly Port-Said disaster in February 2012. Ahly defeated Zamalek twice in the Super Cup, prevailing on penalties following a 0-0 draw in 2003 and overcoming their bitter foes 2-0 in 2008. The Red Devils are the record winners of the competition with eight titles, three more than Zamalek.
