CAIRO: Forty judges in the State Council announced their recusal from supervising the elections during the second round, scheduled to begin Wednesday. The judges protested against the Supreme Electoral Committee's unsuitable distribution of judges in polling stations. Deputy Head of the State Council, Magdi el-Garhy, said that the committee assigned deputies of the head of the council to supervise the elections in polling sub-stations. The general polling stations were assigned to junior deputies, including polling stations in the Giza neighborhoods of Dokki and Mohandiseen. Garhy accused the SEC of poorly organizing the electoral process, and that it lacks justice and fairness. “It is unreasonable for the judicial committee to have more than 500 judges of the State Council supervise polling sub-stations, while 50 judges and deputies supervise polling stations in Giza governorate with other members as reserves.” He criticized the State Council, pointing out the lack of operation rooms inside the council to follow the vote.
