CAIRO: Chairman of the Supreme Electoral Committee (SEC) Abdel Moez Ibrahim today ordered monitoring judges in all nine electoral subcommittees to sign unstamped ballots in the event that the SEC seals are not available, reported SEC General-Secretary Saleh Abdel Salam. Some voting cards lacked the SEC seal in certain subcommittees, which led to confusion and worry, Salam said. The SEC also updated the database of voter names, placing them in alphabetical order to prevent any further problems, he continued. Salam also said that a traffic jam prevented some judges from arriving on time to their polling stations. “If turnout is higher than expected, the voting period can be extended,” he added.
