Egyptian author Yousif Zidan said that it was expected that Islamists would gain a majority in Egypt's parliament in any free and fair elections, blaming the media for exaggerating discrimination against them during the former regime. During a seminar held at El-Sawy Culturewheel, Zidan that the media helped the Islamic trends gain public sympathy by hosting Egyptian Islamic figures on different channels after January 25 Revolution. He also praised the Egyptian Revolution, as it fulfilled Egyptians' aspirations and disrupted Gamal Mubarak's inheritance. He criticized those people who attack the Egyptian revolution. Zidan added that after the revolution the people would protest if the authorities imprison activists. He rejected authorities' promotion of the military institution as only institution that can lead the country during the transition. He raised the necessity of reviewing relations with Israel, comparing the rent protests in Israel to the Egyptian revolution.
