CAIRO: Chief of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi is closely following the election process from the operations room of the ruling military council, SCAF member Gen. Atman Ismail today reported. Members of SCAF are now present in all Egyptian governorates undergoing the first phase of the parliamentary elections, Ismail said. “The military council will intervene to overcome anything hindering the elections,” he added. “Initial reports about the elections confirm a large turnout,” he said. “ The army will deal decisively and swiftly with any attempts to provoke riots or cause problems.”
