Top story/news: News: , Ali el-Selmy CAIRO: Egyptian Islamic movements and parties boycotted a mass demonstration called for by political powers Sunday, said a spokesman of the Al-Nour party. The party condemned the pro-Baradei protest for appointing the presidential candidate to head the national salvation government, describing the action as "anarchy." In a statement, the party called on Egyptians to vote in parliamentary elections as a first step in the transition to democracy. They also called for a timetable for the election of a president by next July. The statement said the resignation of the former government meant that former Deputy Prime Minister Ali el-Selmy's constitutional principles document is voided. According to the statement, the bloodshed stopped Nov. 24 after negotiations between protesters and anti-riot police under Salafi mediation. It went onto say that the Salafis withdrew from the square to vote in parliamentary elections, and the revolution is in its second phase, not a second revolution.
